Welcome to the K2 Partner Community

We're happy to have you as part of the extended K2 team. Whether you're a sales or technical person, this section includes all of the information you need to get started being successful with K2.

1. K2 systems access

Having access to the K2 systems is the first step in getting your partnership with K2 off to a good start. You have been provided with a username and password and it’s important that the rest of your colleagues are enabled as well. If you are an administrator for your organization, you can request additional users here. If not, please complete the contact us form with the names, titles and emails of others in your organization and we’ll get them set-up with a K2 account.

2. Partner Program Guide

The Partner Program Guide is designed to provide you with detailed information regarding the benefits available to you as a K2 Partner. It is meant to make partnering with K2 easier by providing information about the partner program all in one resource.

3. Role based roadmap

To accelerate your time to succeed with K2, we’ve developed two roadmaps for partners to follow based on your role within your organization. If you are technical, then follow the Technical Path or if you will be presenting the value of K2 to customers, follow the Sales Path.

4. Additional resources tabs

After completing the steps in the Technical and/or Sales Roadmaps, visit the Technical Resources and/or Sales Resources tabs for helpful tools and resources.

5. Start being successful with K2!

You’ve made it to the end of the New to K2 Roadmap and are ready to start being a successful and profitable K2 Partner!
As a technical person, your organization looks to you to be the expert in all things K2. The roadmap below will help you get there faster. Follow the step by step guide to get up to speed – Fast!

 Microsoft Fundamentals
Being successful with K2 is highly dependent on having a strong Microsoft foundation. If you are not very familiar with Microsoft technologies, before you begin with the K2 Technical Path it’s important to make sure you brush up on your Microsoft skills. K2 has compiled a list of additional Microsoft resources that should be a prerequisite before you begin your K2 learning.

 K2 Learning
With a solid foundation in Microsoft technologies, you are ready to begin learning all about K2. The first step is to participate in the K2 Solutions Professional course. K2 Solutions Professional is the first in a new range of K2 Official Learning Resources aimed at enabling professionals to build enterprise solutions on the K2 platform. Our goal with the K2 Solutions Professional learning resource is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for individuals who want to build their career on servicing K2 products and K2 powered solutions.

To find an upcoming session of the K2 Solutions Professional course, view the Partner Events calendar.

Additional technical readiness materials are available in the Learning Center section of this site.

 Installation
In any K2 project, the first thing you will need to do is install the software. Before you show up at a customer site, here are several ways that you can learn about how to install K2 software:

1. Listen to the How To K2: Partner Edition session on K2 Installation Services. This webcast demonstrates the methodology the K2 Services team uses when planning a K2 installation at a customer site. It provides insight into what K2 does as part of the infrastructure engagement, what needs to be in place before that engagement and the requirements during the engagement.
2. Do your own K2 installation. Instructions for installing in both a single server or multi-server environment can be found here.
3. Create your own VPC

K2 creates several virtual machines for use by our employees, customers and partners. To request a VPC, complete the VPC request form and we will ship one to you. However, building your own VPC utilizing your TechNet or MSDN keys to activate the VHD permitting allows you to have a VPC that does not expire and provides another way to practice your installation skills.

A full build document is available for each core that K2 has created. They include details on the products installed, the order they were installed, and all configuration settings. This document can assist when it is necessary to build a virtual machine with similar configurations.

 Test your skills
With K2 training completed, it’s now time to test your K2 skills by going through the New to K2 Scenario Example. The focus of this exercise will be to take a business process through multiple iterations to progressively introduce more complex pieces. The end result of this effort should be to provide exposure to many of the most common functionality encountered when working on K2 engagements.
As you are working through these sessions and run into any questions, there are several places to find answers:
  1. Search Knowledge Base articles posted in the K2 Knowledge Center
  2. Visit the K2 Underground
